Resident Spotlight: Bill Fink
Bill became a resident of Lamar Court in March of 2017. His children, Cindy and Steve, pre-selected Lamar Court for him and then invited Bill to come tour and give his final approval. They liked the community themselves and thought it would be nice for him. Bill says, “Once we had lunch in the dining room, that pretty much persuaded me.”
Delicious Meals
Our community offers three chef-prepared meals daily. The menu consists of residents’ favorites based on recommendations. Fresh, local ingredients are incorporated into the dishes, which are served restaurant-style. Room service is also available.
Bill also liked the scenery and ambiance of Lamar Court and felt he would be well taken care of. You will often see Bill outside relaxing and admiring the surroundings, including the large trees that grow around our community in our peaceful suburban neighborhood.
Bill’s Career
Bill was a teacher for 39 years. He taught at both Northeast Junior and Senior High Schools. He taught American history, civics and geography. He also taught at Bingham Junior High School.
What did he like most about teaching? Bill says, “I liked helping the kids – it sure wasn’t the salary,” he added with a laugh.
Model Railroading
As a child, Bill collected stamps. Now he enjoys model railroading. It has become a Lamar Court tradition to proudly display his train set during the holidays. His collection is so big that it takes two large tables to accommodate the tracks. A Christmas tree is placed in the center of the tables, and residents enjoy adding miniature decorations to make the train scene more festive.
We are fortunate to have Bill as one of our Ambassadors at Lamar Court. His kind ways and interest in people make our new residents feel right at home.
